Volunteer with Parks in Houston
These are #ParksByYou.
Our parks belong to all of us. Great parks have the power to increase our quality of life and strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods. Together with your support, we can help create thriving parks and communities for everyone.
When you volunteer, everything you do—small or large—matters. It moves us closer to a Houston where everyone can enjoy access to green spaces and live healthier, happier lives. Whether you can help every week or just for an afternoon, there are so many ways to share your skills and talents.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
These are the leaders. The Houstonians who will lead and create unique experiences along our Bayou Greenways and in our parks. Whether you’re passionate about health and fitness, nature and conservation, getting kids outdoors, or something entirely new. We’d like for you to activate the green space and share your passion to help others connect to their neighborhood park or greenway. We are looking for Houstonians who like to rally and motivate others and want to make a difference in your community, by organizing regular park experiences.
PARK STEWARD VOLUNTEERS:
If you love parks, making a difference, or simply spending time with like-minded people this is for you. Join us as we get close to nature and to each other—planting new trees, spreading wildflower seeds, tending to invasive species, or supporting scaled city events you can make a real impact across Houston.
These are volunteers who will help shape and lead specific projects with Houston Parks Board staff both in the office or out in the field. Volunteers are asked to commit half a day each week for a minimum of three months.
Volunteers for The Green Team:
The Houston Parks Board Green Team is an essential part of the Bayou Greenways 2020 Conservation program. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy being outdoors and are passionate about conservation. Our volunteers participate in restoration work including invasive species removal and planting in our meadows, wetlands, and forest tracts. Education and hands-on training from conservation professionals will be our everyday commitment to the Green Team. We want our volunteers to build skills and knowledge on land management, invasive species ID, wetland restoration, and much more!
We’re accepting volunteers from all over to help with Houston’s many parks and neighborhoods. Ambassador and Trailblazer roles will require a background check. We accept ages 18 and above, and 16 and above with an adult present.
Be part of a unique team, represent Houston, and help uplift our parks and communities across the city.
